Round two!

Believe it or not, but I wasn't sore or tired after my 20 mile ride on Saturday, so I decided to go back out on Easter Sunday. This time I was better prepared for the cold. I decided to ride South from SpringValley to the town of Corwin which is slightly over 7 miles. The ride was pretty nice. The path runs along the SpringValley wildlife area. I was surprised there were so many people on Easter. The ride to Corwin wasn't too bad..seemed the wind was always blowing in my face and slowing me down. I was looking forward to a tail wind on the way home! I got to Corwin and took about 30 minutes to walk around and sit on a picnic table in the sun. After enjoying an apple and a bottle of water, I headed for home. So far, I had covered 27 miles with no problems, but on the way home, my butt started to get sore. Guess there isn't as much padding as there used to be. So I got back to the Jeep and kicked back in the sun for a few minutes and decided to make another quick ride to rack up a few more miles. I made it 1.5 miles before turning back. That gave me 17 miles for the day and a grand total of 27 for the weekend. One weekend down and 973 miles to go!

First ride....

This past weekend, I went out for the first of many rides on my way to 1000 miles. I decided that I would start off easy and maybe get in about ten miles. I decided to head up to Xenia and catch the bike path along route 42. When I started, it was super cold and I swaer I almost said "screw it" and got back in the Jeep. By the first mile, I though my ears were frozen. The wind was blowing like crazy, but I decided to keep going...It seemed the farther I went, the easier it was. I remember laughing as I pssed the first mile marking..thinking "sheesh, only 999 more to go". Anyway, when I got to five miles, I decided to keep going and I ended up riding the full 10 miles to Yellow Springs and back for a grand total of 20 miles. Not bad for the first trip out.
